The idea of going to a Halloween party as a cute cat is always quite popular, but many people are unaware of all of the critical components that are needed in able to actually pull off the costume successfully. While it might seem like a good idea to merely grab a pre-made costume to use there are plenty of times you can pull together separate pieces to create a much better costume than you ever imaged. After all, Halloween is all about having some fun, so a great costume will be a huge step in the right direction.

Ears are absolutely critical to a successful cat costume. If you do not take the time to get a good set of ears you are missing out entirely. When you are selecting the ears that you want to use, you need to be sure that the ears will remain firmly in place and will not slip and slide around on your head. This makes it quite uncomfortable at times and can create a huge problem when you are at the party. A good set of snug fitting ears is typically quite inexpensive and can be picked up almost anywhere.

Your next critical piece should be a tail. You have a choice between a long tail or just a simple short cute tail. But it is important to have a tail, so you need to take the time to find a tail that you really like. If you are looking for a tail for a child, you need to be sure that it is short enough that there will be no danger of tripping on it while walking. An adult on the other hand can easily wear a much longer tail with no problems. If you have any doubts about whether a tail is the right length for you it is a good idea to measure the tail against how tall you are to determine if it will be a good fit.

If you are going to the trouble of accumulating a great cat costume, you will also have the choice for your face. You can either choose to go with a mask, which omits the problems of deciding on makeup or you could choose various pieces of make up and take the time to paint on the cat face. For younger children it is generally best to use either minimal makeup or a mask since they frequently have a hard time sitting still long enough to do a detailed make up job. Adults typically enjoy having an intricate makeup look and since they can sit still it is a great effect when it is done right.
